Now that Bush is out of office, we shouldn't have any more hurricanes. When Bush left office, gas prices were well under $2. Now they are rocketing back up towards $3!! WTF Obama? I thought you were on our side? Is Obama sucking up to big oil now too??Why are gas prices going up? I thought Obama was going to protect us from oil companies?
sorta missing your promised hope and change now aren't you? now, I've got this rich nigerian cousin... hes a prince... I need your bank account number....
buffytou: since when is it the republicans fault that we arent drilling our own oil?
or are we supposed to tap into a unicorn's @$$ and pump out fairy dust. that'll remove our dependance of foreign oil... if only the darn republicans wouldn't keep all the unicorns for themselves
Edit: its also may. Oil companies like to ';maintain their refineries.'; they drive the oil up for summertime travelers right before memorial day.Why are gas prices going up? I thought Obama was going to protect us from oil companies?
Why would he punish the very people who contributed so much to his campaign fund? The fix was in from the start; kick up gas prices before the election to get the Chicago Political Machine's choice into office, then after the election, quickly cut the prices so that it would look as though the oil companies were ';scared';. Now that everybody is feeling all warm and fuzzy, they can split the money they loot from the citizens for the next election.
Gas prices are going up because the economy is rebounding. This drives up the demand for oil, which is reflected in the increase in gas. And since the Bush administration was opposed to pursuing alternative energy sources, America's energy infrastructure is still highly dependent on oil. It takes a lot longer than 4 months to break America's dependence on the whims of the oil industry.
Yes, they were under $2 after they had skyrockted to $4.50 all summer! If I recall, then-Senator Obama said nothing about lowering gas prices...the President can't do that. What he said was ';no'; to the tax holiday because it would only worsen the problem, and he said that we need to get off our dependence on foreign oil. Specifically, we need to develop alternative energy solutions. So, no, there is no sucking up to big oil.
Last summer Obama said';
';I'll make oil companies like Exxon pay a tax on their windfall profits, and we'll use the money to help families pay for their skyrocketing energy costs and other bills,'; . Right after entering office, he removed the windfall tax from his tax plan. I think your question is based on the fact that Obama was not a liar. He is. This is just another proven example.
Gas prices are going back up because the election is over and the honeymoon is over.
This is barely scratching the surface of what's to come, my friend.
Pretty soon, you won't need gas, because President Obama is going to take your vehicle away and give it to the poor.
Gas prices fluxuate. Now that it appears that we are nearing the end of the second Bush recession, gas prices are bound to go up. Will it go as high as $4.00 a gallon as it was under Bush, let's hope not. We need the Republicans to stop obstructing all efforts to wean the US off of foreign oil.
The price of gas is going back up because all you wealthy Republicans asshats with the 10 MPG monsters you buy to show off your wealth and power are getting back on the road for your summer travel to your typical travel destinations like the Hamptons and the Keys and Palm Springs to hobknob with the rest of your ilk and ***** and moan about the state of the economy.
Have a good trip, in the meantime I and the rest of the liberal population that actually put in a complete workday to be able to afford to get healthcare and food for our kids will go back to work and continue to be blamed for the recession because we dont spend enough and we arent taxed enough.
LOL @ the hurricane comment...
... but gas prices are generally the end result of production levels. Cut production = lower supply = higher prices.
The economy is NOT rebounding. It's all about the supply.
No Bernie, that was BUSH that was going to protect us from the oil companies! And LOOK where we are now!
EDIT El Tecoloate, don't worry, nobody wants your beater, you can keep it.
What the hell are you talking about? You think Bush sat down one day and ordered a hurricane? You think the president has control over the weather? You're an idiot.
I dont care because I pay less than 1940 prices for my gas - Impossible ? - No
see gas.1sta.com
if you don't believe me
Just because Bush is not in power doesn't mean his oil buddies are too.
Memorial Day approaches. The thieves are at it again.
Anyone who believes the President controls the price of gasoline is dumber than Sarah Palin...and that's pretty darn dumb. Ooops...does that mean you?
LOL
Haha, good one.
We now have Democrats in the White House and majority of the House. What do you expect to happen?
