Here's another one.... if we went to war just for oil... why not just go to Canada... closer... cheaper... and we get most of our oil from Canada to begin with. Also... they don't have a Military to stop us.
what's the question? Karma, you making yourself look dumb. Why would they go to Canada, if they already gettin 3/4 of our oil, thanks to NAFTA. Besides, crude they get in oilsands is what they call ';heavy crude';, as opposed to ';:light crude'; they have in Middle East. What this means is that canadaian oil has more tar and other byproducts, so it costs more per barell to refine than ';light crude'; catching my drift???Besides, if US ever attacked Canada, UN would tear them a new one.

Supply and demand regulates oil prices. Give some credit to all the environmentalists that won't let us drill for oil in Alaska and the gulf of Mexico. Blaming someone does nothing to resolve the problem, drilling for oil in Alaska and in the gulf and building more refineries would certainly be one solution to the problem. Maybe when gas gets to $6 or $7.00 a gallon we will smarten up.

bush cares about oil company profits, and they go up when the price of oil goes up. soon to hit $100 a barrel.

Now on to economics. Supply influences price. If the supply of something decreases, the price raises. By pursuing violent measures in the middle east he is threatening the supply of oil. Supplies are threatened and the price raises.





Now on to opinion polls. These are conducted by taking surveys of segments of the population. If the president isn't making the lives of the majority of Americans better, then they get lousy feedback from these polls.





So, indirectly, yes he can control oil prices. But in the end, he knows his presidency is over (due to term limits), so how would it profit him or his family if he lowered oil prices?
