Will everyone that is sick of the gas price gouging of America be willing to boycott the oil industry?

I submit that all Americans unite to hurt the oil industry with the same callous disregard that they are showing towards us. We need to fight back with our pocketbooks, since that is the only language they seem to understand. I propose that immediately, we boycott all the big gasoline sellers. Marathon, Shell, BP, Exxon, Mobil, Phillips 66, and any others I may not have considered here. Spend your dollars at the gasoline stations that are not affiliated with the distributors directly, like Wal Mart (for instance) and mom and pop local stations. However, they have gouged us also and need to be punished, so only get your gas there. Don't buy your pop and donuts and coffee or anything else there to cut into their profits. I feel that if we all can do this unitedly it may send them a message not to mess with pissed off Americans. I would enjoy your feedback and cooperation. Thank you. Will everyone that is sick of the gas price gouging of America be willing to boycott the oil industry?
North America has built cities and towns to evolve around vehicular transportation, so it is very difficult to totally boycott oil products. People need access to fuel.

However, your idea is a good one. People can still purchase fuel and punish the big guys at the same time. However, there is no way the whole country will unite at the same time. You need to start small. Start the process in a city, organize it well and do your very best at that level first. If you're successful, the publicity will build, and other communities will want to give it a try. It could then snowball to include the whole country. But the key is to start small.

It is important to select a group of local people (not more than 8) who are willing and have influence in the community. Don't expect a lot of initial support from the mainstream media because the owners are in cahoots or are friends with the oil executives.

As for me? I sold my vehicle and am using public transit. It's my way of giving them the finger. Good luck! Will everyone that is sick of the gas price gouging of America be willing to boycott the oil industry?
You need to familiarize yourself with how an economy works. Your idea has a Populist appeal - politicians are polished at this approach. It really boils down to supply and demand.

Your efforts will be better spent on convincing our lawmakers to institute reasonable energy policies.

Why burn fossil fuels for power? Nuclear is so much less costly and doesn't pollute.

Why buy foreign oil (already refined!) when we have vast reserves of our own? Find out why we no longer build refineries.

Think it over - it's a no brainer.
Its not gonna work, its not that simple. You think they wont make the gas prices higher because we are trying to piss them off. Everyone has to work to support themselves so we will always need transportation, right now its gas. Even if we did just get gas at those stastions and put the other ones out of bussiness it would then effect the remaining gas stations. It is much bigger then a boycott. And to not get gas for one day is stupid because everyone will just get gas the day before or the day after. We will still need gas no matter what day of the week we get it!
national gas outs have circulated at least a couple of times through the internet but there hasn't been enough consensus to put a dent in it. I wish to God nobody in America would be gas on one given day; that would sock 'em right in the mouth hard!!!
The point of a corporation is to sell something for a profit. It's called capitalism.

Do whatever you want, but don't blame the oil companies for doing their job.
i have already started boycotting. i bought a cart and i have 2 goats that pull me around in it. i have gotten alot of attention from it. it is more efficient than a car anyway.
you want to hurt the cause of your pain? punch an environmentalist. They're the real culprits. Punch a democrat. The govenrment makes more in taxes than the oil companies.
In the U.K there is a movement to boycott BP/ESSO for as long as it takes.

It's better than sitting around complaining and never doing anything about it.
count me in by all means.
i agree we need to fight back

the best thing we can do is educate our-selfes
It just won't work. The only thing that will hit the oil companies profits is if a significant number of Americans start using significantly less gas. It's all about supply and demand. Demand for gas remains high so the oil companies have us right where they want us and can pretty much charge whatever they want.

We've got to get vehicles that use less gas or alternative fuels or use alternative forms of transportation. They've recently started a new train running to the city from my town so I've started using mass transit to get to work and I'm looking into buying a hybrid so we use less gas on vacations.
