Eventually, alternative ways of doing things will replace the lassaiz-faire attitude toward petroleum. The price will continue to go up until the value of the dollar tanks and we stop buying everything overseas, bring our jobs back, and stop transporting everything around for the sake of 'always low prices'. In the meantime, as the price goes up, older wells are being restarted, people are learning to conserve, and a lot of SWDN (stuff we don't need) is sitting on shelves because people are spending their money on gas instead.
