Why dont the US govt declare oil a public utility and regulate astronomical gas prices destroying our economy?

hmmm... price controls... it would be more effective to dump the national oil reserves on the market... drive the price down to below two dollars... it wud be cheaper... and heck... then restore the stategic reserve at a lower price...Why dont the US govt declare oil a public utility and regulate astronomical gas prices destroying our economy?
Corruption

Answer: Inflation is the result of ridiculous Prices for consumer petroleum products sold in the United States and resulting exorbitant Profits of oil companies and their stockholders. The housing crisis is only one crisis created by the fleecing of American Consumers by the Bush administration, Oil companies and NO Bid Contracts for Haliburtan and Other Cheney and Administration thugs.

%26gt; There is a Crisis in the following areas of American Families budgets and shortfall in income to pay for essential goods and services: Food, Utilities, Clothing, Insurance of all types, Education of Family Members, Health Care and Prescription Drugs.

%26gt; The Bush Administration has chosen to publicize the Housing Industry because they intend to GIVE Mortgage Banks and Other Lenders Billions of Dollars to their Republican Cronies and Contributors.

%26gt; In my humble opinion George W. Bush, Cheney and all their friends who have benefited from the Bush Administration corruption have committed High Treason and should be impeached and Prosecuted to the full extent of the Law and Made to pay restitution to the American People through paying off the National Debt that has been incurred directly related to their War, Corruption and Fraud.

Accountant and Economist for 30+ Years. Why dont the US govt declare oil a public utility and regulate astronomical gas prices destroying our economy?
Because, the people selling us their oil would quit selling to us. Destroying our economy even further.

Oil is not ruining the economy. People's dependence on it is. There is no law saying you must gasoline.
